Vitalizing Border
Incited by these facts, the scheme is aimed to give the dike, bordering
The Netherlands from the ocean, vitality so that it can also be used as
well as a living place. The living place here specifically refers to firstly,
a place where people carry out their activities and secondly, an area
to grow plants throughout the year. These functions are accommodated by two giant structures, integrated with
the structure of the dike. Each structure forms an organic mass following
the meeting line between the land and the sea. Half parts of the structures
stand on the sea side and the other halves are on the dry land. Housing units on the other structure are arranged in a way to admit maximum
natural light into the units. Landscaping in the middle consists of plants,
which live either in dry or wet environment. |
