The project of a residential
construction suitable for inundated lands or non-resistant filled up surfaces
is best addressed by the development of the ship building. The volume
of this ship building does not have to be modelled along the curvelineal
parameters of nautic engineering, since optimal conditions for a fast
navigation are no its objetive; it is rather a light construction built
upon a floating platform. It closer resembles beach barges or the rectangular
rafts which are sometimes used to cross rivers and lakes with the help
of large vertical poles which allow to lever upon the bottom. This idea's
viability and the purpose of avoiding a massive invasion of land favour
the option of a housing cluster with an entity on its own. This project
would allow to reduce the access roads and to increase the surrounding
free surface; besides, it greatly diminishes the consumption of surfaces
and materials for supply facilities and common services, thus enabling
a significant cost reduction. This housing cluster should be projected
both taking into account the design of each individual unit and the shape
of the whole construction. Each individual housing unit is conceived as
a basic cell of innovative design, open to the various usage conditions,
which is completed in a two-story building, according to the following
criteria: -The service elements related to supply facilities and discharge,
as well as more complex constructions (i.e. stairs) are grouped on a compact
prismatic block, which could be prefabricated, serialy produced and sistematically
distributed. -The study of the evolution of availability and costs, as
well as of the emerging demand in the field of residential construction
favours the option of overcoming the classic models of space division
into compartments, with rigid separations into a large number of small
rooms; in the opposite of this trend, the proposal here is of a doble
free story, with relative large dimmensions and rectangular shape, which
would allow to maintain the classic separation between night and day areas,
and it also allows most of the housing surface to be totally available,
so that it would be much more readily adaptable to a variety of life styles
and users, or family units with very different size and composition. Access
to the houses is at the first floor, from a central gallery with a longitudinal
development and close-fitting dimensions where all building communications,
both horizontal and vertical, are concentrated. The ground level is used
for a car parking and general acceses. In its central axis the begining
of the stairs is to be found, which then elevate to the upper level, up
to the roof. Its ground is the surface of the large platform of the building
foundation, and it is directly linked to the incoming road. The roof functions
as a kind of large solarium, with a swimming pool and rest areas, and
it concentrates a variety of facilities and integral building equiptment,
thus enabling a true unité d'habitation. The supply and discharge channels
are lined up through one integral network which runs parallel to the building
access road. The solution outlined in this project, from the practical
habitability standpoint, combines both the need of providing a high level
of privacy in the especific areas of each of the individual housing units
with the complementary model of a colective lifestile based on the universal
principles of balance, economy, equality, ecology and solidarity. |
